List of COA

A Certificate of Approval (COA) is required for the importation of metal products for industrial and construction use.  Metal products are required to comply with Malaysian standards or equivalent international standards.

A list of mandatory tariff codes that require a COA can be found at:

Steel Standards

Malaysian Standards (MS) is a consensus document developed by the Standards Development Committee in the Malaysian Standards Development System and approved by the Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
MS (s) are generally voluntary, developed by stakeholders divided into 4 (four) categories of stakeholder interests: general, manufacturers, regulatory authorities and consumers to ensure balanced representation.  However, they may be required by referral by the authorities through regulations, local by-laws or other similar means.

MS for iron and steel products can be searched through: http://www.jsm.gov.my/web/msonline
