DATUK HANAFI BIN SAKRI, DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL (INDUSTRY) (MITI)

 

Datuk Hanafi bin Sakri is currently the Deputy Secretary General (Industry), at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). His experience covers Senior Director, Industry Development Divison, MITI, Finance Officer, Deputy Secretary of the Direct and International Tax Department, Head of the GST Section of the Taxation Department, Administrative Director, Director of the Trade Department of Economic Relations and International Trade, Chief Assistant Senior Director of Investment Principal Division Industry Division, Chief Assistant Director Department of Domestic Trade, and Assistant Director of the Human Capital Development Section.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Economy from the University of Okayama, Japan.

Currently, he is involved in the formulation of the Industry4Wrd and the New Industrial Master Plan (2020-2030).

    TAN SRI CHENG YONG KIM, MANAGING DIRECTOR, LION INDUSTRIES CORPORATION BERHAD (“LICB”) (FOUNDER)

    YBhg. Tan Sri Cheng Yong Kim, was appointed as the Managing Director of LICB on 16 January 1995. Tan Sri Cheng graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from the University of Singapore in 1971.

    He has more than 40 years of experience in the business operations of the Lion Group encompassing retail, food and beverage, credit financing, property development, mining, steel manufacturing, tyre, motor, agriculture and computer industries. For a period of seven years from 1988 to 1995, he was the Managing Director of Lion Fasteners Sdn Bhd, a company engaged in the business of manufacturing bolts and nuts.

    In 1990, he took up the role of President Director in P T Lion Metal Works Tbk, a public company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, which is a manufacturer of steel furniture, building material and stamping products in Indonesia. He took on the position of Managing Director of LICB in 1995 and in 1996, he was appointed as an Executive Director of the Likom group of companies which are involved in the manufacturing and marketing of computers, monitors and peripherals.

    Tan Sri Cheng is the Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce, Malaysia, a permanent member of the Steering Committee of the Construction Products of Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia and a Director of NTUC Fairprice Co-Operative Limited. In 2018, he was appointed as a permanent member of the Malaysian National Standards Committee (MyNSC) for the period from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2020.

    DATO’ DR. IR. ANDY SEO KIAN HAW, EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, ALPHAPRIMA ENGINEERING SDN. BHD.

    Dato’ Dr. Ir. Andy Seo Kian Haw, or known as Andy, is a Partner of Andy Seo & Associates, a management engineering consultancy practice and a Member of Corporation of SMECORP Malaysia.

    He currently serves as the Executive Chairman, Senior Advisor and Directors of various organisations. Dato’ Dr. Ir. Seo is the Director of the German Malaysian Institute. Apart from that, he also serves as a Committee Member of the Malaysian Finnish Business Council, Director of the EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and SIRIM QAS International Sdn. Bhd.

    Dato’ Dr. Ir. Seo is a Director of SIRIM Berhad since July 1, 2015. He currently serve as the Vice President of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) and Council Member of the Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KLSCCCI). He is also a member of the National Skill Development Council and a Council Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia.

    Dato’ Dr. Ir. Seo served as President of the University of Hertfordshire Alumni Association in Malaysia from 1991 to 2002, Member of the University Court at the University of Hertfordshire, UK and an Advisor to the Faculty of Engineering, University Putra Malaysia and University Malaysia Pahang. He graduated in Production Engineering from University of Hertfordshire and holds an MBA in General Management from University of Hull, Kone Executive edge strategic Management Course from London Business School, Kone Strategic Management Program from IMD, Honorary Doctor of Science from University of Hertfordshire and Honorary Fellow of Association of ASEAN Fellow Engineers Organization.

      DATO’ LIM HONG THYE, GROUP MANAGING DIRECTOR, ANN JOO RESOURCES BERHAD

      Dato’ Lim Hong Thye joined the company in August 2000. Prior to that, he was with the Assurance & Advisory Service Unit of Price Waterhouse and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Dato’ Lim was an Executive Director in Ann Joo Steel Berhad (“AJSB”) since 15 January 2004 and moved to became the company’s President on 18 February 2004. Under the management of Dato’ Lim, Ann Joo Resources Berhad Group progressed tremendously to become the leading steel group in Malaysia. He is the brainchild behind the Mini Blast Furnace to integrate the iron and steel production. This has transformed AJSB to be one of the most efficient steel mills in Southeast Asia and positioned the Group in the forefront as a cost-efficient producer.

      Dato’ Lim sits on the Board of several private limited companies. He also sits on the Board of Malaysia Steel Institute (MSI), a government agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), overseeing the development of the steel industry in Malaysia. Dato’ Lim is the President of Malaysia Iron & Steel Industry Federation (MISIF). He is also active in social work by becoming the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Lick Hung.

      Dato’ Lim holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from The University of Melbourne. He is a Chartered Accountant (CA) from The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and a Fellow membership of CPA Australia (FCPA).

        DATO’ SRI TAI HEAN LENG @ TEK HEAN LENG, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, MALAYSIA STEEL WORKS (KL) BHD (“MASTEEL”)

        Dato’ Sri Tai Hean Leng, a Malaysian, male, aged 57. He is the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Steel Works (KL) Bhd (Masteel). He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Southern California and a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Hull, United Kingdom. He began his career in oil and gas industries and has extensive experience in the corporate strategies including corporate planning, business expansion and operations.  He has more than 30 years of business experience in the iron and steel industry. Dato’ Sri Tai also sits on the Board of MS Express Sdn Bhd which is the wholly-owned subsidiary of Masteel. He also sits on the Board of Bio Molecular Industries Sdn Bhd, an associate company of Masteel and several private companies in Malaysia. Dato’ Sri Tai is the Vice President of the Malaysia Steel Association (“MSA”).

          ROSHAN MAHENDRAN BIN ABDULLAH, GROUP CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF MYCRON STEEL BERHAD

          En Roshan Mahendran bin Abdullah is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Mycron Steel Berhad, a position he has held since 2 April 2018. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Company on 18 September 2017 as a Non-Independent Executive Director. En Roshan is responsible for the operations of Mycron Steel CRC Sdn Bhd, Melewar Steel Tube Sdn Bhd, and Silver Victory Sdn Bhd. Prior to joining Melewar Industrial Group Berhad as Vice President of Business Development in July 2010, En Roshan held numerous senior onshore and offshore positions in the Oil and Gas sector including Transport and Installation, Subsea Construction Inspection, Repair and Maintenance, as well as Deepwater Subsea Construction.

          En Roshan’s tertiary education focused on maritime, and he holds a Diploma of Applied Science from Australia Maritime College (University of Tasmania). He is also a certified professional of the Australia Maritime Safety Authority.

          En Roshan has been a Council Member of the Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF) since November 2018. He is currently the Deputy President I of MISIF, a position he has held since 26 November 2021

            FAIZAL MOHD YUSOF, SENIOR DIRECTOR OF INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT DIVISION (MITI) 

            Mr. Faizal Mohd Yusof is currently the Senior Director of Industry Development Division, at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). His experience covers Senior  Director of Investment Policy and Trade Facilitation Division, Strategic Trade Controller – Strategic Trade Secretariat, Deputy Strategic Trade Controller – Strategic Trade Secretariat,   Senior Principal Assistant Director, Principal Assistant Director, Assistant Director, Industry Services Division, Restructuring of Companies, and Industrial Development (serving   various  sections ie Automotive, Electrical & Electronics, Machinery & Equipment).

            He holds a LLB (Hons) University of University of Northumbria, New Castle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom.

            Currently, Mr. Faizal also one of the Board of Malaysian Technology Development Corporation, representing MITI. He also serves as the Chair of MTDC’s Nomination and Remuneration Committee and is a member of MTDC’s Board of Audit & Risk Management Committee.
