Seminar Kesedaran Kualiti Bahan Binaan

Currently CIDB regulates on compliances to standards on imported construction materials. However with the amendment of CIDB Act in the year 2011, has empowered CIDB to regulate construction materials produced locally. The scope of regulation is on materials that are listed in Schedule 4 in the said act. As mentioned above, CIDB’s regulation is on the compliance of the materials to the specified standards as per gazette. On evidences of compliance to relevant standards, CIDB requires the materials to be tested by accredited third party testing and inspection bodies. Having said that, therefore once CIDB starts to regulate construction material used in the construction projects must be certified by third party. The primary aim of this seminar is to create the awareness in the industry particularly to the manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors on the importance of regulation of construction materials  so as to ensure the production of good quality construction materials.

Besides that this seminar is also to impart the general requirements on compliance to standard as well as sharing some of the good practices in complying with the said standard by the industries.

With the introduction of Economic Transformation Program (ETP), it is expected that more mega projects will be launched by the government. Thus it is envisaged that there will be huge demand of construction products especially on iron and steel as well as cement and other construction materials in the future. This makes regulating on the 4th schedule construction materials very timely. Moving forward, we trust the regulation of construction materials by CIDB in the near future will enable to elevate the level of quality of construction materials used in the local construction industry. In view of this it will pave the way in strengthening the structural integrity of the building construction works.
